We’ve all heard it before. Those words - “it’s too expensive”. And broadcasting sports is no different. The client (whether it’s a club, league or association) wants a price that makes the whole operation viable. And the production company, they need a price that covers wages, gear and the effort involved.
“The problem is it always comes down to price. So one of the things I've been working on this year is trying to package it up in a way that becomes a bit more valuable so that they can't say no. And then also trying to just alleviate some of the cost side.” says James Cassel from Jum Media.
Jum Media live streams anything from corporate events, weddings and of course sport. It’s for sport that Jum Media has built a close relationship with LIGR systems. James and his team do the production and LIGR provide the graphics capability.
Together this provides the opportunity for remote production. An option that could save time and consequently the cost of the production.

“If I've got someone from the client's side that can run the camera, which is where one of the costs is, I'll send them everything else and manage a stream from behind. The only thing they won't have is access to the graphics.”
This is a new DIY method for clubs that will lower the cost whilst providing the same production quality. However this allows the stream management, including graphics insertion, to be done remotely. It can also be done for multiple sites at once - great news for any production company.

“We are accessing clients that potentially wouldn't be able to use our service otherwise. It's reducing costs to us and giving us the opportunity to do more events at the one time. The biggest thing is that if we have to send out a kit to one game, we're locked in, you can't do anything else, but with LIGR, if we have three games at the same time, we can send out three cameras and run three games,”
Providing the opportunity for scale is one of the main driving forces behind LIGR. Whether it be a club wanting to film another division on a saturday, or an association wanting to film 40 games at once, LIGR provides the capability to do this.
“So you know, the move to LIGR allowed us to do the remote production, which is where we've been aiming to get to. To run it remotely so we have control and scalability”
